The share of population living in drought exposed areas of Uzbekistan is 76,3%. This was communicated at the training-seminar organized for specialists on drought management.

The seminar involved specialists from Center of Hydrometeorologcial Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet), Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbek State Nature Protection Committee, Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as representatives of public organizations and media.

Joint efforts of the GEF Project and the UNDP Project on climate risks management (in this case – water scarcity) will target familiarization of Kashkadarya farmers with his technology.
